Artist Bio

Connie Lam is a self-taught bead artist based in the Hudson Valley and New York City. Working outside the bounds of traditional fine art institutions, She embraces the spirit of the outsider artist, creating intricate, emotionally resonant works without any formal training. Her beadwork blends raw expression with meticulous technique, often drawing from personal memory, folklore, and urban textures.

Her practice is deeply tactile and meditative, exploring the possibilities of pattern, repetition, and material storytelling. Each piece serves as both ornament and artifact—small-scale sculptures that reflect her singular vision. Working between the quiet natural beauty of the Hudson Valley and the charged energy of NYC, she continues to push the boundaries of beadwork as a form of contemporary art.

Artist Statement
I’m inspired by objects that call out for embellishment—pieces that feel unfinished or overlooked. Using beads as my palette, I transform these objects and give them a new life.

Each bead is a deliberate choice, a small act of transformation. The work is meticulous, often taking months to complete. Through repetition and precision, the process becomes meditative—a quiet dialogue between material, object, and time.

Beading allows me to merge sculpture, surface, and storytelling. With every piece, I honor the value of patience, care, and the beauty found in detail.
